SUMMARY
"What's Going On: The Remake - 20 Years Later" is a documentary that takes us on a captivating journey of recreating the iconic song and music video of "What's Going On" originally by Marvin Gaye and covered by popular artists, twenty years after the tragic events of September 11th. The film follows a group of talented and diverse kid artists as they audition, record the song in the studio, and participate in the creation of a powerful music video. Along the way, they engage in conversations with the director about racial injustices in America, shedding light on the stories of victims.
While the original All-Star Tribute Music Video shed light on societal injustices in 2001, the remake mirrors the same spirit of hope and unity amidst contemporary challenges. Through the recreation of this song, these young individuals share a powerful message about the change that is needed in our country.
