Founding Story:
In Chasing My Dreams Film Group, storytelling meets social change. Our journey began with the vision of Alcee H. Walker, a passionate filmmaker and director dedicated to harnessing the power of narratives for a greater purpose.
Walker's path unfolded in 2011 when leaving CalArts MFA Directing program after a semester. Though he was still passionate about directing, he wanted to work with the youth and began his tenure as a substitute teacher at the Palm Beach County School District. Traveling to 43 elementary schools in the district, he witnessed firsthand the diverse challenges students faced. It became clear that many schools lacked access to adequate arts programs, hindering the students’ potential for success.
In the following year, driven by the desire to find his purpose, Walker returned to school and earned an MFA degree in Social Documentary. He also received an MPS degree in Directing a year later. He embarked on a mission to create something meaningful and to merge both of his passions—an organization that would empower youth through the arts while shedding light on pressing social issues. Over the course of a decade, Walker completed 7 films and earned three Director’s Guild of America (DGA) awards. His first film, Pain of Love, earned the Outstanding Directorial Achievement Award. While his two short narrative films, Inferno and Child Support, earned the Directorial Jury Award from the DGA.
“The goal has always been to create something positive for kids to hear so they can feel empowered to pursue their dreams in film and music. Thus, Chasing My Dreams Film Group was born.” -- Alcee H. Walker

Audience:
Socially Conscious Youth
The primary audience for our business is the younger generations who are deeply invested in social issues. We create films addressing topics that resonate with the youth and we inspire them to make a change in their community. Through our films, we also provide opportunities for them to thrive in the film industry.
Educators and Educational Institutions
We aim to engage educators and educational institutions recognizing film's power as a teaching tool. Our films, covering various social issues, can be integrated into curricula to initiate meaningful discussions and promote critical thinking among students.
Community Organizations and Activists:
We target community organizations and activists dedicated to driving social change. Our films serve as catalysts for raising awareness and inspiring action, making them valuable resources for these groups to further their causes.
