One Chance, One Dream - A Journey of
Four talented, different, and young aspiring artists are pushed with the opportunity to learn about and define their musical dreams.
One Chance will be a documentary that showcases the talent of five young teenage singers from around the country. It will follow the process of each artist’s journey to finding their purpose and goal for their musical dreams. The singers will be pushed in their work ethic, their drive and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make this one chance a meaningful opportunity.
From a young age, Jordan Orion suffers from Dyslexia. Though the obvious setbacks this can place on a young girl, she has been able to overcome this obstacle with the help of her parents and their support for all of their daughter’s aspirations. Even with her Dyslexia, Jordan successfully learned to read music to help advance her musical career while also being on track to receive her associate degree by the time she finishes high school. This innate drive to work hard and push through obstacles makes Jordan an extra ordinary character to inspire young black girls to pursue any career.
Destiny McRae, also as known as “Ladybug,” is a 14-year-old artist from Trenton, New Jersey. Influenced by the musical roots in her family, particularly her father, she started singing around the age of 5 years old. When she was 7 years old, Destiny performed at a school event and was showered with rave reviews. Noticing her star quality, Destiny’s father took her under his wing. She was introduced to the studio, started to get opportunities to perform at local festivals, work with local artists, and make appearances on the local radio outlets.
Tyiana Graves is a 13-year-old aspiring singer from West Windsor, New Jersey. Many of Tyiana’s songs are inspired by the challenges that she faces every day; especially from her struggles in being a victim of bullying. Still young and learning, Tyiana admits that she has not fully grasped the idea of being a victim in bullying and often shies away from conversations about her experience. We see how essential it is for Tyiana to, therefore, use her skills in music to uplift herself and eventually other youth around her. Music allowed Tyiana to express herself in ways she is still struggling with in person.
Savannah started off as part of a dynamic duo as a rapper. After their song, “Successful,” went viral nationwide and they were asked to make appearances on “Good Morning, America” and TNT, the two young middle school aged-girls continued to create and perform songs that inspire and motivate the youth. However, after some conflict and familial struggles, Savannah was ready to share her own story. But most importantly, Savannah used music as a healthy outlet to create songs about black culture, loving oneself and the importance of education.
